LLM roundup – 14th Feb 2023

A few pointers to interesting reads regarding LLMs (the engines that power chatGPT, new Bing, Bard -to be launched-), some from today, some from a few days ago

  • A thread I quoted in my own timeline, from Steven Sinofsky, former Microsoft Exec behind some Windows and Office (he has a very interesting blog/newsletter turned book in Substack about his experience there in Hardcore Software)
  • A skeptic thread, reposted by François Chollet, among others:
  • (in Spanish) Javi Lopez, a Spanish divulgator having fun with new Bing. Jus posting one tweet, but he has posted several threads during the day
  • An apparent leak of new Bing’s internal code name (“Sydney”) and its rules:
  • A spooky revelation by an Open AI staffer
  • Ben Evans being Ben Evans, and Bing showing some problematic behaviour
  • Short thread from Ben Evans
  • A few days old thread from Ben Evans on the apparent threat to search from LLMs
