LLM Roundup – 25th February

Just one articlce this roundup, although a very long one, partly becauses it links a lot of external posts, with several examples of Bing (in particular with “misbehaviours” or people managing to get from Bing spooky answers and behaviours), and partly because the author, Zvi (short background in a different post) is part of the Rationalist community that believes there is a non-trivial chance that advances in Artificial Intelligence will wipe out humanity (link to pointer in previous post regarding chatGPT, I will add in some point a post to cover that topic in more detail than what I had so far)

I would anyway recommend to open it and skim it through, in particular I recommend to take a look at Gwern’s comment in a LessWrong post, with some very plausible hypothesis of what explains the differences between chatGPT and Bing (before the latter was heavily curtailed).

NOTE: To create the main image in the post I used chatGPT to get me a prompt for Dall-E. I am not very pleased about the output though.
chatGPT prompt:

I want a prompt to create an interesting image through a generative image generation model called Dall-E. The content of my post is the following: <content of the post above> I will take your prompt and expect to get as output an image I will use as cover of my blog

And the result was:

Great! How about the following prompt for generating an interesting image using Dall-E:

Create an image of a futuristic cityscape with towering skyscrapers and flying vehicles, but with a twist: instead of traditional buildings, the structures are made entirely out of natural elements such as trees, rocks, and vines. The vehicles also incorporate natural elements into their design, such as wings resembling leaves or propellers made from twigs. The city is surrounded by a lush forest, and in the distance, a massive waterfall cascades down from a mountain peak. The image should convey a harmonious coexistence between technology and nature.

The prompt is actually longer than what Dall-E allows, so I was only able to input up to “lush forest”
